On this 10-day hiking tour in Sumatra, you will immerse yourself deep into the fascinating rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park and, with a bit of luck, encounter orangutans in their natural habitat. After three days of jungle adventure, your journey continues south to another unforgettable highlight: the majestic Mount Kerinci, the highest volcano in Indonesia. Over the course of two challenging days, you will ascend its slopes and be rewarded with breathtaking views over Sumatra’s pristine landscapes. This tour combines intense nature experiences, physical challenges, and authentic insights – perfect for those who want to explore Sumatra actively and far off the beaten path.
Note: This round trip is only suitable for sporty people with previous hiking experience. The volcano trekking is very demanding. The trip is therefore not suitable for children.

Today you will go on a 3-day jungle tour and with a bit of luck you may see orangutans in the wild. Our guides are licensed by the national park and have years of experience in jungle trekking. There are two guides available for the day. You will be picked up from your accommodation at 9am and then hike into the jungle together. The hike takes about 6 hours, including breaks for photos and food.
In the afternoon, you will reach the camp near a river. You can jump into the water or just relax. Our cook will prepare an Indonesian dinner for you (vegetarian options available). You will sleep in a semi-open shelter, surrounded by the sounds of the river and the jungle.
Note: We organise groups of up to 6 people for the jungle trek. However, the rest of the trip is private.
After breakfast, we continue trekking through the jungle, trying to find orangutans and other wild animals and learn more about them. After lunch, we hike on to the campsite by a river. You can jump into the water or just relax. We offer coffee or tea and some biscuits. Meanwhile, our cook prepares an Indonesian dinner with several options (also vegetarian). After dinner we sit together by candlelight, listen to the sounds of the jungle, play cards or talk. Then you sleep in a semi-open shelter, surrounded by the sounds of the river and the jungle.
After waking up, our chef will provide you with coffee, tea and breakfast. You can jump back into the fresh water of the river. Depending on the campsite, we will then continue the jungle adventure and trek for about 2 hours or we will go to a waterfall where you can swim and relax. You can also just relax at the camp. After lunch we will leave the camp by tubing.
After breakfast, our driver will take you back to Medan Airport. The journey takes about 4 hours.
