Accommodation in a semi-open shelter

You spend the night in a simple, semi-open shelter that offers you a protected place to sleep in the heart of the jungle. Large plastic tarpaulins protect you from the rain. The ‘beds’ consist of mattresses about 5 cm thick that lie on the ground and are covered by a mosquito net to keep insects out. A blanket is also provided for the cooler hours of the night. Although everything is semi-open, you don’t really need to be afraid of animals entering. They usually stay away from humans anyway. What’s more, the guides spend the night right next door. So if anything should happen, you have help close at hand.

Simple furnishings

The camp is unspoilt and furnished in a minimalist style. There is neither electricity nor running water – the water comes directly from the river, and personal hygiene is also a simple pleasure here. There are no showers, instead you can refresh yourself in the river if you wish. There is an outdoor toilet for the most important needs, which is simple and functional. The atmosphere of the camp is therefore close to nature and minimalist – ideal for those who want to focus on the essentials.

Relaxation after the trek

When you reach the camp after the trek, you have time at leisure. Jump into the cool waters of the river or relax on the mats in front of the tent. There are biscuits, tea and coffee.

Filtered water for your drinking bottles

If you go trekking with Discover Sumatra, we can offer you filtered water for your drinking bottles at the camp. We use the outdoor filter from Waterdrop, which effectively removes up to 99% of all harmful substances, dirt and bacteria. Thanks to the high-quality coconut shell activated carbon fibres, it improves the smell and taste, ensures water safety and provides a better drinking experience. More info on the filter

Dinner and cosy finale

In the evening, the chef conjures up a delicious Indonesian dinner consisting of several dishes that can be customised to the guests’ wishes (including vegetarian dishes). The meal is served in a cosy atmosphere. The atmosphere is unique. Candles light up the tent, it is pitch dark all around and the sounds of the jungle invite you to dream. After the meal, the day ends in a relaxed atmosphere – playing cards, telling stories together or simply listening to the sounds of the jungle and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

The morning in camp

In any case, the morning is relaxed. There is no stress or time pressure at the camp. The cook serves coffee and tea as well as a delicious breakfast. Jungle views are included free of charge.
